What We Like About This Charger
The built-in solar integration is appealing if you already have a SolarEdge inverter installed at your home. Solar integration is now offered across many of the mainstream EV Chargers.
The EV chargers come with a 5-year warranty which is better than most other options available in Australia which typically offer 1 to 3 years of warranty.
It can also charge at 9.6kW when combining solar with grid on solar boost mode, this is the highest kW charging rate we have seen for any single-phase home charger.
Key Features
The 7.5m tethered cable is one of the longest options available on the market and would be particularly useful if the EV Charger installation point is a long way from the charge point on your electric vehicle.
The SolarEdge EV Charger can integrate with the rest of the SolarEdge ecosystem including their solar inverters, home backup and smart home devices and can all be managed through a single mobile app.
The charging capacity is 40 amps which offers some benefits above the other EV Charging single-phase options available which are typically limited to 32 amps.
The Wi-Fi connection comes with an antenna which can be helpful if the Wi-Fi signal is weak at the chargepoint in your garage or driveway.
How Much Does the SolarEdge Charger Cost?
The SolarEdge EV Charger retails for around $1,800 to $1,900 excluding installation costs.
Pros and Cons
After reviewing most of the options for EV charging in Australia, these are the key pros and cons we see with the SolarEdge Home EV charger.
Pros | Cons |
5-year warranty | It is a one-size-fits-all all, with no options for untethered, 3-phase or load balancing |
9.6kW charging when using solar boost mode with grid and solar power | Charger is priced higher than many of the options on the market |
Easy-to-use app | Only integrates with solar systems with a SolarEdge inverter |
Installation
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician and typically takes a few hours.

Warranty & Service
The SolarEdge EV charger comes with a 5-year warranty. At present, this is the longest warranty available for any EV charger available in Australia which is a great signal for quality.
Warranties can be claimed by reporting the defect to SolarEdge by sending an email to support@solaredge.com. You can also login to the service centre for system owners on their website https://www.solaredge.com/aus/support/system-owner
Should I Buy a SolarEdge Home EV Charger?
If you have an existing SolarEdge inverter installed at your house or are looking to install a SolarEdge system, then the SolarEdge EV charger is a seamless bolt-on solution that can be managed through the same app. The charger leads the way in its warranty offering a single-phase charge rate potential
However, if you are looking to customise your charging solution to your needs, then SolarEdge’s one-size-fits-all solution may not work for you. If you have a different solar inverter then we suggest looking at a different EV charger that is universally compatible.
