Hawking Solar was a subsidiary of Hawking Electrical. I chose HS because they both sold and installed the system. CER, the Aust Govt regulator, did a random inspection of the installation a few months later. CER found 4 or 5 defects/omissions by the installation team. Hawking Solar kept delaying fixing the items reported out by CER. Then, without warning, Hawking Solar shut down and disappeared. The parent company, Hawking Electrical denied having anything to do with Hawking Solar. The HS phone number was disconnected and their emails were turned off. The Hawking Solar warranty was worthless.

After my experience with this company I now make a point before engaging any company where after-service or warranty is critical to ring their service line. If it just rings out, as it does with Hawking, don't waste your time. Just imagine how you are going to feel when you have a real problem like your system isn't working and you can't get hold of anyone.... No comfort in having a 10-year installation warranty then. After an impressive sales process and a reassuring record of 20 years trading, I can honestly say their after-sales communication and service is disgraceful. My system had multiple problems after installation, incorrect layout of panels as on contract, no Solar Edge app readings and we had no hot water all weekend. They did return and fix. However when the system packed up completely 9 months later they stopped answering my calls or emails. I ended up troubleshooting with Solar Edge HO directly and they diagnosed remotely that it was most likely a wiring issue and updated Hawking. My conduct towards them was civil and respectful at all times and after a stressful month of leaving messages and sending emails hoping they would eventually do the right thing - Nothing. I ended up paying another solar company to come out and yes it was simply faulty wiring and minutes to fix. I lost my entire solar production for over 1 month - ouch. The new company are now monitoring my system and they answer calls and emails like most professionals do. Sad lesson to learn on such an expensive purchase which inevitably may have issues over such a long warranty.

Purchased a solar system from Hawking in March 2021. The system failed in on the 1st of Feb 2022 and I'm trying to get it repaired under warranty since then. The business has gone quiet since early March and there are no comms from them since then. Any emails go nowhere and are not being replied to, no phones are answered. Avoid this business and do not do business with them
